Laminate Spills & Stains

Laminate flooring is an easy-to-care-for option for your home. Learn all the top tips and best practices for maintaining your laminate floors below.

Sweeping your laminate floors will keep them looking great while helping to prolong their lifespan. When you sweep, you are helping to remove dirt, dust, and other debris that can scratch your laminate floors and cause them to take on a weathered look. How often you need to sweep will depend on the traffic that the laminate floors receive, but you should plan on doing so every couple of days.

You can also damp-mop your laminate floors for deeper cleaning. Make sure your mop is damp, as opposed to soaking wet. A soaking wet mop is never a good idea, regardless of the flooring material in question.

Solid Messes

With laminate floors, solid messes are not a big deal. Sweep up your solid mess with your broom in a timely manner to avoid any lingering/long-term damage. The longer you wait to address a mess, solid or liquid, the more likely it is to cause damage. Act fast when accidents happen!

Liquid Spills

Much like other hard surface flooring options, liquid spills should not cause damage on laminate floors so long as you act fast. When a liquid spill occurs, grab a cloth or towel and absorb the substance to avoid long-term damage to your laminate or the subflooring beneath. For more complex messes, consult your manufacturer.
